9/1/21: Letter to Parent & Guardians of Bus Riders

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (Department) continues to experience a severe shortage of student bus drivers, most notably on Maui, Oahu and Hawaiʻi Island.

For planning purposes, please be advised that you may need to find alternative transportation to and from school for your child in the coming weeks. As the Department manages staffing and works to consolidate routes, priority will be given to special education students.

C-19 Cases: Week of 8/23-8/27

As COVID-19 case counts continue to rise statewide, there will likely be similar increases reflected among our students and employees. Moving forward, our administration will send a single weekly notification of positive cases, rather than multiple daily notifications for individual cases. This weekly schedule will assist our team to track cases with greater expediency and reduce confusion among our school community members.

We are excited to launch our new form of school-to-home communication. at Ha‘aheo School. This platform provides a simple and easy way to keep parents and guardians updated and informed via email, text or app.

7/15/21: FREE Breakfast & Lunch for the 2021-2022 School Year

Thanks to a nationwide waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Education is pleased to announce that all students at Hawaiʻi’s 257 public schools statewide will receive free breakfast and lunch meals for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year.

6/29/21: Lead Testing Results

The Hawaiʻi Department of Education and the Department of Health partnered with us to test the drinking water for lead at Hawaiʻi elementary schools. Happily, the results show that no lead is present in the drinking water at our school.
