In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, we need to take additional precautionary steps to ensure the health and well-being of our school communities. As such, HIDOE is canceling all school and Department-related travel to the U.S. mainland and international destinations until the end of the 2019-2020 school year, effective March 12.

As you know, The Hawai‘i State Department of Education (HIDOE) is working closely with the Hawai‘i State Department of Health (DOH) on guidance to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) to our campuses.
Please see the attached link to the superintendent letter that was generated on 3/7/19. As you know, Ha‘aheo was one of the 23 east-side Hawai‘i Island schools that have tested positive for arsenic, organochlorine and/or lead present in the soil. The letter shares information out of caution and reassures that exposure to these contaminants are preventable.
The Department of Health (DOH) was asked to collaborate with the HIDOE and other education agencies to promote awareness of recommended vaccines for adolescents.

We adopted a student friendly slogan that exemplifies who we are as a school. Our slogan: "Ha‘aheo Kākou" means we, the Ha‘aheo School community, are proud. It is very fitting, given the legend of the naming of our school.
