Ha‘aheo School: Complex-Wide Metrics & Model

According to these new metrics, we have been trending in the ORANGE model for a few months. At this time we will continue to operate without any changes to our current Distance Learning plan as we have been in the first and second quarter.

The sum of the last 14 days of Hawai‘i Island’s positive cases is being used to determine the color model that we are operating in. In order to move to a less restrictive model, we must trend within the yellow model’s numbers for 14 days. After meeting the required timeframe, we will announce our transition plan from the orange to yellow model. If cases increase and we trend toward a more restrictive (red) model, the transition will be immediate in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Should the positive case data trend towards either yellow or red, a school-wide message will be released containing any updates. This will allow families and faculty to prepare to transition to another model.

Please continue to comply with safety protocols, such as the diligent use of face masks, social distancing practices and frequent hand washing or sanitizing. Maintaining awareness of the positive case numbers on the Big Island will be an indicator of where we fall in the metrics.

Aloha & mālama pono.
