WASC Accreditation SY 2021-2022

What is WASC?

ACS - Accrediting Commission for Schools

WASC - Western Association of Schools and Colleges

The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) is one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States.

Why WASC?

All elementary schools in the state of Hawaii are now required to go through the WASC accreditation process.

This process fosters excellence in schools by encouraging school improvement. WASC accreditation recognizes schools that meet an acceptable level of quality, in accordance with established, research-based WASC criteria.

What does WASC mean to Ha‘aheo this school year?

To receive WASC accreditation our school will go through a self-study process that includes a written school report and a visit from an outside committee. All school stakeholders have an opportunity to participate in the self-study process. Please visit haaheo.org regularly to find out how you can be involved.

After this year we will continue to participate in the six year WASC accreditation cycle.

If you have questions regarding your participation or any other inquiries please feel free to stop by my room A11, call me at school 974-4111, or email me via
