Welcome!

We had a wonderful time on our huakaʻi to Mokupāpapa this week! We were lucky to participate in the Earth, Sea, Sky program this year, which provided us with funding to visit Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, ʻImiloa Astronomy Center and Mokupāpapa to learn about the interconnected elements of life. We finished our journey this week by learning about the creation of our island chain and practicing kilo with our own native fish and bay! Mahalo piha for the opportunity!

Congratulations to our class Spelling Bee winners, Mason Espaniola, Nanea Ortiz, and Zade Hinch for their participation in the school spelling bee! Mason will be going on to our State Spelling Bee, and all three did an amazing job representing 5th grade!

Our 5th and 6th grade students were invited to Hilo Intermediate to participate in their annual STEAM trade show! They got to visit dozens of booths and participate in awesome activities like building bottle rockets, making slime, driving VEX IQ robots, and more! Mahalo to Cindy Fong and the Hilo Intermediate science classes for a great day!

We had our first huakaʻi of the year this week, to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park! We have been studying weathering, erosion and deposition, and were able to see some real life examples today! Mahalo Ranger Jody for guiding us on our adventure!
